REACH.

REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It came into force on 1 June 2007 and aims to provide a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the use of chemicals. At the same time, it is designed to facilitate the free movement of chemicals on the EU market while enhancing competitiveness and innovation within the EU chemical industry. The basic premise of REACH is to make the people who place chemicals on the market – manufacturers, importers and downstream users – responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated, and to take appropriate measures to ensure their safest possible use.
