SO – IL’S 'BREATHE': IN DIALOGUE WITH ITS ENVIRONMENT.
MINI teams up with the New York architects for a creative use of space.
Inserted between two buildings, 'Breathe' opens up interesting perspectives on life in the city. Together with MINI LIVING, SO – IL sketches out important issues of our future way of living together in their installation for Salone del Mobile 2017. How do we want to live together? What will privacy be like in the future? With their work, the architects from Brooklyn formulate questions and answers at the same time. 'Breathe' materializes an imagined idealized world. Public spaces come closer to private areas and unusual materials indicate permeability. A flexible fabric stretches to form rooms and acts as a filter for light and air. The boundaries between the interior and exterior are blurred, thereby making visible the importance of the relationships between people and their habitats. Just as the future cannot be defined, 'Breathe' is not to be seen as a solution. The installation is an experiment. An invitation to discuss and try out new forms of life and living in the city.
